UPDATE

Updated: Sep 30, 2019

A lantern front and center (as seen through the mesh) of one of our homeless neighbor's homes!!

I wanted to take a minute to update those who support Light in My City. Over the last few weeks, I have been working to secure funds for our second large purchase of lanterns/lights. The Eton Corporation, who works with the American Red Cross on their disaster relief lanterns, has offered to discount each unit to help our cause. I am currently determining the financial viability of their generous offer, as I want to be the best steward of the funds entrusted to me as possible.

The need for light continues to be evident in the homeless community. We have been asked over the last few weeks if we were the people who had the lanterns, and if they might be able to be given one. The lights are always in demand, and are greatly appreciated. With that said, I am hoping to make a purchase in the coming days, and get even more lanterns into the hands of our Pittsburgh neighbors in need.

Additionally, we have been working weekly with "Blankets Over Pittsburgh," run by Jack Brumbaugh (blanketsoverpittsburgh.com) to distribute clothing, water, toilet paper, body wipes, blankets, food, feminine hygiene supplies, socks, and water. We work very closely with this wonderful organization.
