Hope

Take a look inside the residence of one of our homeless Pittsburgh neighbors. Most of us use tents recreationally. For this homeless individual, this has been home through heavy rains and cold nights. Faux flowers outside provide welcome color. An area rug provides warmth from the cold ground. Necessary hygiene products, simple food items, and a makeshift mattress and coffee table can also be seen.

Our city's homeless have ambitions and dreams that have been derailed for a variety of reasons, leaving them in search of hope. Poignantly, the open book on the homemade mattress is entitled, "Hope."

Light in my City strives to bring a sense of hope with each visit, with each LuminAID lantern and FosPower emergency radio given, and most importantly, with each conversation where we remind them that they matter... and that they are loved.
