We were able to pass out lanterns to eleven of our homeless friends on Easter Sunday. One friend exclaimed, "I know it's Easter, but this feels like Christmas!" Each recipient unexpectedly explained why the lantern was so important to them. Some cited safety, the ability to perform necessary functions after sundown, a chance to see what they were eating at night, while others were thrilled to have access to music and local news. Each lantern garnered a "thank-you," a handshake, a high-five, or even a hug.
